Tony and Heather
Tony Shalhoub and Heather Brooker
behind the scenes on Monk

Heather Brooker will be a guest actor in the upcoming season seven episode "Mr. Monk Gets Lotto Fever" on July 25th. Heather is an Oklahoma native, OSU theater major and former mid-west television reporter, but she couldn't resist the lure of the stage. Now she's in Hollywood making her mark on the entertainment world. I hear she's also making ends meet as a Universal Studios tour guide. MFP correspondent Agnieszka caught Heather for a few quick email questions.

Heather: Hi there! I'm happy to be a part of a fan page. I'll do my best to answer all your questions without droning on as we actors tend to do. [ed. Not to worry, we love that here!]

Agnieszka: How did you get your role in Monk?

Heather: I got my part in Monk after I was submitted by my manager for a role. I went in and met the casting director, then not 45 minutes after I left my manager called and said they wanted me to meet the producers. Hurray! So I met them the next day and they gave me the part.

Agnieszka: Did you work with Tony Shalhoub, Traylor Howard or other main cast members?

Heather: I worked with Tony, Traylor, Ted and Jason in my scene.

Agnieszka: How it was to work with them?

Heather: They couldn't have been nicer or more lovely to work with. Tony has the best sense of humor and it's really incredible to watch him work. Traylor was so sweet and really a pro.

Agnieszka: What can you tell me about this episode?

Heather: I can't go into details about the role I played because the episode hasn't aired yet. [ed. IMDB has already spilled the beans: she'll be playing "gushing fan".] But I can tell you I'm in "Mr. Monk Gets Lotto Fever" this next season and it's going to be a good one.

Agnieszka: Where was this episode filmed?

Heather: My scene filmed near downtown Los Angeles.

Agnieszka: Before you got this role, did you watch Monk?

Heather: My husband and I are big fans of the show as well. So it was a huge honor for me to be on the show.

Agnieszka: What are your favorite TV Shows, movies, music?

Heather: Some of my favorite shows include The Office, Lost and Heroes. I love all kinds of music but currently I'm listening to Mike Doughty's latest album. I love it! His voice is like an instrument itself. My favorite movies list is an ever evolving list because each year a new movie comes out and I want to alter my favorites a bit. But I have to say Elizabeth starring Cate Blanchett is my absolute favorite. She has such a powerful presence on film and I would watch her in just about any role. And I'd love to work with her someday!

Heather 3

Agnieszka: When did you know that you wanted to be an actress?

Heather: I knew when I was about 8 years old that I enjoyed making people laugh. I used to entertain my mom's friends with my impressions and silly characters. I did a lot of theatre in high school, won several awards at local competitions, then went to Oklahoma State University on a theatre scholarship. But as sometimes happens in life, we veer away from our dreams a bit and try on new dreams. So I became a news reporter for a while. However, I eventually found my way back and have never been happier. You can read more about me at my website http://www.heatherbrooker.com.

Agnieszka: What is your favorite role you've played?

Heather: My favorite role that I've played so far has to be this role on Monk. How can you top Tony Shalhoub? I don't think you can.
